    • Single tooth bending fatigue testing of Pyrowear 53 carburized test gears has been completed at Penn State’s Gear Research Institute.   Conventionally carburized and hardened gears served as the baseline for comparison with intensively quenched gears.
    • DCT, LSP Technologies, Inc., and Metal Improvement Corp. are investigating the residual stress characteristics and fatigue life of carburized steels subjected to laser shock peening under US Army AATD funding.
